Kimberly Barnes Photography | Year in Review 2012

2012 was a big deal for Kimberly Barnes Photography. Huge. Lots of exciting things happened. Like what, you ask? Well, for starters, early on in the year, I finally launched the Web site and branding for the boudoir portion of my business, Unlocked Boudoir. It was a long time coming and I’m so thrilled to say there were a lot of beautiful women I was blessed to photograph this year. In July, we moved from Nashville to Columbus, Ohio, and I photographed weddings in both cities (plus a few others). Moving the business to a new city has been so scary and exciting at the same time, but I’m so thankful for the new doors that seem to be opening. I also started shooting film this year. I know I’ll be discussing it more in future blog posts so I won’t go into much detail here, but let’s just say that shooting film has challenged me in ways I never thought possible (awesome, amazing ways). So much so, that I decided to take a leap of faith and sign up for a Film Is Not Dead workshop next year. Speaking of growth, I really feel like 2012 was a defining year for me in terms of style and business. It offered clarity for what I wanted to photograph and how I wanted to photograph it. I couldn’t have asked for anything better this year.

As I was looking through all the lovely images taken this year, I was just overwhelmed with gratitude for the people (all of you!) whose lives I got to be a part of. Thank you for asking me – trusting me – to photograph you this year. I had a hard time limiting myself to the photos in this post, but here are just a few of my favorite moments from 2012. Some weddings, some beauty, some lovely mommas. And a little bit of film thrown in to make my heart happy. Thank you again for making 2012 one of the best years yet!
